The River Oja runs through Casalarreina, offering a diverse and unique landscape.

Casalarreina is located on a wide alluvial plain. The municipality is irrigated by the River Oja, an especially important river for the area because it gives its name to the Autonomous Community of La Rioja. Said river’s presence means the existence of a diverse and rich landscape in the municipality, the surrounding area covered by wide fields of crops contrasting with a characteristic riverbank woodland, home to the most important green spaces in Casalarreina.

Magnificent views of some of the region’s most characteristic landscapes and natural resources can be enjoyed from our municipality. Our Zaballa panoramic viewpoint offers unique views of the Obarenes mountains and Gembres and El Toloño peaks.

In short, the surroundings of Casalarreina offer the visitor characteristic landscapes of La Rioja (wide fields of crops, extensive vineyards, riverside woodlands, etc.) which can be discovered via the numerous routes designed to get to know the natural and landscape values of our surroundings: Wine Routes, Green Ways and Casalarreina’s Natural Heritage.
