CASALARREINA

If you have a week or more to discover Casalarreina, you’ll be able to get to know our municipality very well and, in addition, the best of one of the most important winemaking regions in Spain: La Rioja Alta. Below, we offer a series of suggestions so that you can fully enjoy your time with us.

Our suggestions:

  • Follow the different routes crossing our municipality to discover its heritage, art and its natural spaces.
  • Make your visit coincide with one of the municipal fiestas: San Juan in June, Fiesta de Gracias in September or San Vítores in August.
  • Follow one of the Wine Routes connecting different municipalities in the region (Tirgo, Haro, Ollauri, Rodezno, etc.) with Casalarreina.
  • Enjoy some of the typical dishes of La Rioja cuisine in our restaurants, such as La Rioja-style potatoes, or chops cooked on dry branches from vineyards.
  • Visit nearby municipalities with high historical or artistic value, such as Santo Domingo de la Calzada or Haro.
  • Walk or cycle along the Green Way of the Oja, through kilometres of natural landscapes, and discover some of the unique municipalities of La Rioja Alta.
  • Visit one of the region’s wineries, from famous wineries such as those in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro to small and charming family wineries. Complete your visit with wine tasting or unique experiences among the vines.
  • Discover other very attractive nearby municipalities, such as Sajazarra, Ollauri, Briñas, Briones and Haro.
  • Pay a visit to the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture in Briones, just 13 kilometres from Casalarreina, to enter into the culture and tradition of winemaking.
